ICON OF THE EARTH
Community
An environmental justice and sustainability initiative — because protecting the planet is protecting the people who live on it.
ICON OF THE EARTH is a W.A.H.P. nonprofit initiative focused on environmental justice, sustainability, and the intersection of ecological health and community wellbeing. Communities facing systemic injustice are often the same communities bearing the heaviest environmental burdens — pollution, food deserts, toxic infrastructure, and climate vulnerability. WHAT WE DO: • Environmental Justice Mapping — identify communities disproportionately affected by environmental hazards • Community Gardens & Urban Agriculture — build food sovereignty in food deserts • Clean Water & Air Monitoring — deploy community-led environmental testing • Green Jobs Training — connect residents with sustainable economy careers • Climate Emergency Response — prepare vulnerable neighborhoods for climate disasters • Youth Earth Stewardship — environmental education programs for the next generation The Earth is an ICON — sacred, shared, and worth defending. We protect it by protecting the people who depend on it most.
Our Mission
To advance environmental justice and community sustainability for neighborhoods disproportionately burdened by ecological harm.
